LA PORTE ROUGE is a European artistic lab that offers creative explorations and art therapy, a form of therapy that relies on artistic creation to help people towards self-discovery.
Within this lab, we create, among other things, "SERIOUS GAMES": a game that offers learning capable of changing the mindset of the person who engages with it through a storyline that is both instructive and entertaining.
Our first serious game, TRAJECTOIRES, is offered in the form of a multi-chapter therapeutic support to address the lack of self-confidence. Thanks to TRAJECTOIRES, we give participants the opportunity to create their own heroic character, which, through a mirror effect, will help them rebuild themselves.

The Red Door is designed to stimulate our audience through creation. The goal is to help people who are stuck in difficult situations. We offer creative solutions to open up new possibilities, awaken the ability to project oneself into the future and to maintain hope in order to seek out this possible renewal.

We address a European clientele and continuously explore new artistic and therapeutic solutions in order to gradually expand our social field of action by finding creative solutions for new issues.

We offer hybrid artistic productions that create connections between various artistic fields, such as: dance and literature, sculpture and music, cinema and painting… Always with the mission to help people reconnect with their humanity.

An open door to something new, a door to a different perception of oneself, a door to our unconscious, a door to our imagination, a door to the future...

This door evokes a passage; by opening it, we discover the path to the Self, to the inner light that carves out our shadows. These shadows that make our light even brighter.

“The doors to the world of the wild self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deep life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door”. Clarissa Pinkola Estès - Women Who Run with the Wolves.

The door is a guardian, it holds something precious. It contains something of great value.

The door can be seen as a barrier, which appears as the guardian of a secret that wants to be kept, it prevents us from knowing what we know. To know, to open, to enter, you need the key.

The role of our artistic exploration lab is to help you find the key to the door. Of your door...

What do you think is behind this door?oor?

Carl Gustav Jung * gives you a clue by writing: “I acquire the conviction that the unconscious is not only made up of inert matter: there is, deep down, something that lives” …

Because it is a strong and visible color. It doesn't go unnoticed. As if the door wanted to be found...

This door has a significant impact on the one who opens it. That's why its color is striking. The bright red of the door stands out in the darkness. It is an ambivalent color that aims to be comforting. Bright red, associated with vitality, provides a sense of security.

It is a color that has a symbolic function superior to that of other colors according to Michel Pastoureau:

"Red is the archetypal color, the first that man mastered, created, reproduced, and varied in different shades, first in painting, later in dyeing..." red remains the strongest color, the most remarkable, the richest in poetic, dreamlike, or symbolic horizons."

The earliest paintings of prehistory are red thanks to the ochre available in a large number of regions during those primitive times. It is a color that cave men and women blew on their hands to leave a mark of their humanity.

The color red carries the flag of courage and determination.

It is also the color of strong emotions, sometimes destructive, that the Red Door does not deny and does not judge unilaterally. The Red Door wants to embrace its strong emotions, a force that is connected to the living, and that cannot be ignored. The ignorance of violence, excess, anger, and impulses is considered here as dramatically devastating; this ignorance causes the need for these emotions to strengthen and attack everything in their path to be heard. Each emotion has something to say. The Red Door needs to include the shadow part within each of us by accepting these strong emotions that pass through us, which also makes room for more beneficial emotions and thus allows us to evolve into a new version of ourselves.

Allow chaos, accept it, integrate it to move towards clarity...

But the reason at the heart of the colorimetric choice is that the color red represents the common thread of our stories, our journeys. The color red, so visible and fortunately too striking, allows us to steer towards a resolution that makes sense. For all those who feel lost, red remains visible. Thanks to the red thread, we can find our way...

FOUNDER OF LA PORTE ROUGE

Art therapy practicionner

MATHILDA R. Ström - french and swedish Artist, author and film director driven by creation of stories and characaters.

Trained in screenwriting and storytelling, for the past few years, my dramaturgy has evolved by juggling between cinematic, literary, and sometimes choreographic language to tell stories by exploring characters and narratives in different forms.

As a little girl with an overflowing imagination, I expressed myself through the shaping of imaginary stories, thanks to playwriting and poetry.

Growing up, I quickly turned towards cinema. I first dedicated myself to acting, and was trained at Cours Florent in Paris, where I was able to explore various ways of approaching characters by stepping into the shoes of very different entities (female characters as well as male ones: from Miss Julie to Roberto Zucco). Very quickly, the desire to construct narratives pushed me to the other side of the camera. I wrote scripts and directed short films. My first short film won the jury's first prize at EICAR, the school that taught me cinematic writing. I produced my latest short film in 2024: The Flow, a dance fiction, which was presented at the Inshadow Screendance Festival in Lisbon 2024.

I worked for a few years in the Scandinavian audiovisual industry, mainly in Stockholm, as a production manager, but also as a screenwriter, director, and producer. For the past few years, I have turned to literature by working on novel writing projects that are close to my heart. I work on stories for children that I create myself or through the heroic serious games that I have created which supports children, teenagers, and adults in difficulty who need to find a new perspective on themselves and the challenges they are facing.

As an art therapy practitioner and artist passionate about psychology and neuroscience, this lab at the intersection of artistic creation, playful pedagogy, and creative therapy is the result of my aspirations and my desire to build a meaningful project, a project that allows me to do what I love: create, research, and share.
